25. Characters with Bad Boundaries: ‘What About Bob’, Ferris Bueller, Elsa's 'Ice'olation, and What If Robert Pattinson Starred in Commando
On this episode Rick and Kailah explore film characters who have boundary issues. We take a deep dive into the crazy world of What About Bob and explore Bob's lack of boundaries and if Dr. Marvin is actually good at his job. We also discuss characters and scenarios from 2020's "Promising Young Woman" (Kailah starts to scare Rick while talking about bad date vengeance), the 2006 Matthew McConaughey 'classic', Failure to Launch, intellectual theft in The Social Network, material theft in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Elsa and her thick as ice boundaries in Frozen, and Ryan Reynold's struggles in The Proposal. We give some practical boundary framework and key take aways that can help even someone like Elsa improve their relationships. Plus, Kailah and Rick randomly discuss placing Robert Pattinson from Twilight into Arnold Schwarzenegger's classic 1985 action movie Commando. It's a very therapeutic conversation.
